WACL Speaker Dinner, Thursday 11th November 2004
Jacqueline Gold, Chief Executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, is one of Britain's most successful business women and an inspiration to thousands of women.
She is the charismatic boss of one of Britain's most extraordinary business families. With an estimated turnover of £140 million in 2003/2004, the Ann Summers Group ranks as one of the most successful and profitable private companies in the UK.
At the age of 21, working as a junior in her father's business, Jacqueline saw the potential of selling sexy lingerie and sex toys to women in the privacy of their own homes. Working her way through the ranks of the company, Jacqueline quickly became Chief Executive and transformed Ann Summers into a multi million pound concern. Ann Summers now boasts a party plan sales force of over 7,500 women, has 110 UK high street stores and stores in Ireland, The Channel Islands and Spain. With more store openings planned in the UK and the rest of the world.
Jacqueline recently masterminded the acquisition of the Knickerbox brand. The addition of 28 Knickerbox stores and a further 40 concessions within Ann Summers stores will further strengthen Ann Summers presence in the UK and overseas.
Set to take over as chairwoman of her family £465 million empire, Jacqueline Gold is set to become Business Woman of the Millennium.
