As part of our WACL100 celebrations, we have partnered with Spotify Advertising in their Outside Voice series – an amazing annotated playlist series amplifying the voices and perspectives of BIPOC professionals across the creative and marketing industries.
Take a listen to the incredible playlist and perspectives from our WACL President, Rania Robinson – as well as the other episodes in the series from Nishma Patel Robb, Karen Blackett OBE and Carol Reay
Rania is also on SpotifyBeach at Cannes Lions 2023 on Wednesday 21 June at 11AM, talking to the driving force behind Outside Voice, M. Tye Comer on the “Sound of Culture”.
Thank you again Spotify Advertising for being such amazing allies.
Here’s what Campaign wrote about it, published on June 15th 2023…
WACL partners Spotify to platform BIPOC voices
Rania Robinson will speak on behalf on the partnership at this year’s Cannes festival.
Women in Advertising and Communications Leadership (WACL) has tied up with Spotify’s “Outside Voice” programme to amplify creatives and marketers who are black, indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC).
Four WACL members have created playlists of their favourite music, complete with spoken-word annotations.
Rania Robinson, WACL president, chief executive and partner at Quiet Storm and co-founder of Create Not Hate, has created a playlist.
Robinson said: “Music has always fuelled creatives, creative thinking and creative ideas. More importantly, it’s also a powerful way to evoke emotions, build memories and connect. All of which makes WACL partnering with Spotify for ‘Outside Voice’ – a platform that’s all about amplifying underrepresented communities – such a great fit.”
Carol Reay, who was WACL president in 1995-6, also created a playlist, as did Karen Blackett, president of WPP in the UK, and Nishma Robb, senior director of marketing at Google, WACL vice-president and incoming president.
Robinson will represent WACL and “Outside Voice” at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2023 and speak at the “Sound of Culture” session being held at Spotify Beach.
During WACL’s 100th year, the group launched a campaign for 50% of the ad industry’s roles to be filled by women and its first television campaign to promote the impact of positive representation in advertising.
Tye Comer, senior creative at Spotify, said the brand was “thrilled” to be partnering with WACL.
