Sadler will succeed Digital Cinema Media’s Karen Stacey as president in 2025.

Women in Advertising and Communications Leadership has announced that Claire Sadler, marketing chief at British Heart Foundation, will become vice-president in July when incumbent Karen Stacey steps up to president.

Sadler said she was “delighted and honoured” and recognised “the responsibility of the role to build on the work of all the brilliant women who’ve gone before”.

She added: “It’s a club that I love and one that’s helped and supported me in my career.”

Sadler joined the British Heart Foundation in January 2021 in her current role as executive director of marketing, fundraising and engagement. She was previously marketing director at Direct Line, which she joined in 2017. Before that, she spent 13 years at BT, having started her career on the agency side at Proximity London.

“[I’m] looking forward to working with [Stacey] and the wider Wacl network to give back through supporting our members, inspiring the next generation and continuing to campaign to accelerate gender equality within our industry,” Sadler said.

Stacey added: “Taking on the baton of Wacl president is an honour and privilege and, to make sure we keep moving forward in our mission to accelerate gender equality, having the best wingwoman is imperative.

“I couldn’t think of a better person than Claire, her experience, drive and focus in doing what is right will be no doubt felt by the club and the wider industry. I am sure that Claire can count on support from everyone across the industry, as we build an even better future for advertising and comms together.”

Last July, former Google marketer Nishma Patel Robb took over from Rania Robinson, chief executive of Quiet Storm, as president of Wacl.

Wacl’s purpose is to foster gender equality across the advertising and marketing sector and advocate for parity among leadership.
